Available to reliably work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.Expected to climb ladders, operate lifts, work at a height which may exceed 40 feet, and lift and carry up to 60 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to tell differences among colors.Working knowledge of theatrical rigging and servicing Vari*Light and High-End Fixtures.Adaptability with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, multitask, and manage time requirements efficiently. ![]() Working knowledge of Lightwright, Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Qlab.Working knowledge of AC and DC electrics, including single and three-phase power.Good working knowledge of ETC Consoles, and Christie Projectors.Previous experience as a Lead Electrician, preferably in a LORT setting.Bachelor’s degree with theatre/lighting emphasis preferred.3+ years of experience in professional lighting production.Performs all work with a direct reflection of the Mission, Vision and Values of ZACH Theatre.Supports the Manger of Show Operations in a collaborative design process, working with designer drawings in VectorWorks, Lightwright, and other mediums to ensure the on-budget, on-time delivery of all designs.Attends staff, design, and production meetings as assigned.Assists in all pre-production paperwork including scheduling, logistics, plots, focus, safety plans, etc.Ensures that every light plot is hung, focused, and circuited on schedule and safely.Coordinates with Manager of Show Operations to lead crews during load in and changeover including show specific prep such as lighting and video rigging and lighting positions, projector setup, building booms, along with construction and installation of various lighting practicals.Provides feedback in a timely manner through written logs as instructed by supervisor.Organizes show specific video and projection systems.Oversees the management and maintenance of electronic inventories, video systems and projectors, tracking needs, and logging significant repairs/outstanding issues.Assists in recruiting and training lighting and video technicians, including over hire, temporary part-time crews, and spot operators.Leads the daily operations of the lighting/video department under the direction of the Manager of Show Operations, establishing workflow to accomplish goals and deadlines in support of all productions, rentals, special events, and ZACH programming.The Lead Electrician assists the Manager of Show Operations in the daily operations of the lighting and video department and is responsible for implementing lighting and video designs, planning and leading lighting and video load ins, focus calls, maintenance calls, and maintaining all lighting and video equipment and materials. ZACH creates exceptional theatre experiences that inspire and engage the Austin community. ![]()
